About The Organization:
The Attorney General is the State’s chief law officer and is responsible for ensuring that state laws are uniformly and adequately enforced. The Department includes over 5,000 employees who provide legal services for the State, engage in law enforcement activities (including investigating and prosecuting crimes), and manage complex law-enforcement computer data bases.
About The Position:
The Press Secretary serves as a spokesperson for the Attorney General and the Department. Duties include drafting and editing news releases, handling communications with the media, arranging press conferences, working with the Attorney General and other Department officials on communications with the media and public. The position is also responsible for supervising a small staff of subordinates. Substantial press experience is highly desired. A significant portion of the work will occur in the bay area. The salary is commensurate with qualifications, and the position has a comprehensive benefit package.
