ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
Attorney General Jerry Brown is the States chief law officer and is responsible for ensuring that state laws are uniformly and adequately enforced. The Department includes over 5,000 employees who provide legal services to the State, exchange criminal intelligence using state of the art technology, and engage in law enforcement activities, such as conducting criminal investigations, apprehending criminals, and protecting our citizens and the natural environment. ABOUT THE POSITION:
The intern compiles articles from news sources for circulation to departmental staff. The duties will include taking accurate telephone messages from members of the media for press office staff; assists in preparation of routine correspondence requested by Press staff, Executive staff and other DOJ staff; assists on special projects and researches a wide range of statewide issues; assists the Director and Press Officers with background materials for media events and distribution of news advisories/press releases to the news media.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
An intern with strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent organizational skills, as well as excellent customer service skills. Ability to work well in a fast paced, high pressure work environment. Ability to work independently or in a team environment and work cooperatively with staff and management. Excellent computer skills. Should be responsible, dependable, reliable and attentive to detail. English, Journalism or Government major preferred.
