Backend Software Engineer (berkeley)

Early stage venture spin-off of the Stupid Fun Club with support from a major strategic partner seeks an experienced Backend Software Engineer for regular full-time, on-site position. The genesis of our project has roots in games, entertainment and data visualization. We are creating innovative, high production quality web and mobile products that utilize all of these features.

We seek a software engineer who understands scale as a feature, is aware of a few right tools for each job, and likes to validate assumptions with data.

Skills and Requirements:
Strong knowledge of Python or Ruby
Production experience with deployments in AWS or Rackspace
Familiar with SQL and NoSQL data stores along with their appropriate applicationst
Working experience with in-memory data stores such as memcache, Redis, or ehcache
BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Strong experience in design, implementation, and deployment of high performance data services,
including schema design, schema migrations, load balancing, profiling, monitoring, and
performance testing
Production experience with Python web applications written in Flask or Django
Exposure to C/C++, and in particular to the Python C extension API, Cython, or other tools for
high-performance computing in Python
Working experience applying statistical methods to problems of recommendations, similarity, or
time-based analytics
Experience with backend systems which jointly support web and mobile clients
Motivation to constantly learn about new technologies and apply them to your work
