We are a small company with an exciting web project looking for a web designer/programmer.
For about a year we've been developing the concept for an exciting new marketplace for chefs. Current partners bring ten years in computer science, over a decade of food industry experience, and a background in sales and marketing. We are searching for the missing link; someone who can take over the design and development of the site, manage the development team and trouble shoot once the site is live. In return for your labor you'll become a shareholder in the business. We are currently not able to offer monetary compensation.
This is a tele-work job, however, candidate should be available to meet once a week in Berkeley and be available via email and chat daily.
Time commitment: 15 hours per week minimum.
We are looking for a dynamic, creative and self started person to report directly to the companies CTO on this project.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out and execute the vision of the project while managing a team of outsource developers
- Take the current design of the website to the next level turning it into a first class web experience
- Take on design and programming tasks to complement the work of the development team
- Prioritize development to promote quick iterations with as much user feedback as possible
- Responsible for the design and management of the software architecture
- Work with the development team to enforce software architecture and maintain a high standard of code quality
Development Skills:
- Expert developing MySql-PHP websites (CakePHP a plus)
- Good understanding of the model-view-controller design pattern and ability to apply it to web applications
- Experience with AJAX, java script and creating dynamic and responsive web interfaces
- Strong web design skills, photoshop, css, xhtml, etc
- Ability to create outstanding web UIs and workflows
- Strong in database design
- Strong communication skills
Design Skills:
- Have great graphic design skills
- Have experience and good intuition designing user experiences for the web
- Be up to date and enthusiastic about the latest and greatest front end web technologies
- Be very comfortable communicating ideas by story boarding on paper or digitally
- Be proficient in photoshop, html and css
- Be comfortable with the web wireframing process
Management Skills:
If you are a good developer, designer and communicator, you will be able to handle the management part of the project. We can help with that as well.
