Learning to engage the body as an instrument through movement, breath and play, we will then come together as a collective of song and sound. There is great power - and fun - in the voices of many singing together!

Exploring individual expression within the context of collaboration, we will learn and spontaneously develop group practices to create and frolic in the landscapes of sound that call to us in the moment. We will also delve into chanting and sound healing in the group context as a way to connect with and heal ourselves and one another.

Francesca Genco, MA is a singer and sound healer, yoga instructor, bodyworker and interdisciplinary arts teacher. She is the founder of Song of the Body, which offers classes, workshops and retreats in embodied voice, sound healing, yoga and creative expression. Francesca teaches her Singing the Body workshops and leads improvisational chanting circles in the San Francisco Bay area, on the east coast and in Europe. Her classes and private sessions are based in creating an intimate relationship with the body as we learn to listen and respond to its natural intelligence and resonance.

Francesca released her solo album of improvised Sanskrit chants, Numinous River, in December 2008. In January of 2009, she collaborated with Troels Folmann, a Danish film composer, to create a voice library for Tonehammer (http://www.tonehammer.com/). The response to the library and her CD has been positive and wide-spread and she is presently embarking on several projects with composers from the US, Europe, Argentina and Russia as a result. Her voice was featured in a recent episode of CSI New York and in the Japanese trailer for James Cameron's film, Avatar. In June 2009, Francesca wrote The Next Buddha for Anna Halprin's Planetary Dance (http://www.planetarydance.org/), a three-part song designed to be sung by communities coming together to create positive change in the world. She plans to teach this song to communities all over the globe as an affirmation of the deep interconnectedness of all beings. I have played for over 25 years, been a gigging musician since my teens, and am a full time guitar teacher and working/touring musician. No matter what style you're into, we can find some songs by your favorite artists and get you playing them. (even if you've never picked up the guitar before!) I have a good track record with beginner/intermediate level players getting them on the right trajectory, improving efficiently, and taking an interest in practicing. I've also worked w/ countless intermediate-advanced players, filling in the blanks in their skill set... self-taught players, etc.

Playing styles like PUNK, ALT., HIP-HOP, INDIE, BLUES, CLASSIC or MODERN ROCK, etc. are pretty easy when you get down to it. Learn one song, and you'll realize you can already play 20 others. It's all about having a good, patient teacher who makes sure you make the right choices as far as what to work on. Now that doesn't mean I'm going to assign you a lesson plan. We'll only PLAY TUNES BY YOUR FAVORITE BANDS/artists, if that's what you're into. Bring in ANY CD, and I'll teach you from it on the spot.

You are absolutely capable of transforming your creative inspiration into one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces that reflect your distinct personality. In this two session course series we will learn what types of materials are used in beading and wire work. I will bring samples of beading materials, metals used for ear wires and clasps and will show the different sizes and hardness options for wire work. All tools and materials will be provided for practice samples and you will have the opportunity to design and construct your own jewelry in each session.

First class: Learn the basics of beading, some international beading cultural history and how to finish a bracelet or necklace. We will practice how to do �French Twist� wire wrapping in order to create strong links and Fish hook clasps.

Second Class: Expand your skills in wirework by making your own set of locking ear wires and intricate clasp designs. We will make a few different designs in ear wires and create stunning earrings. I will also explain the different types of stones used in jewelry design as well as how to tell some of the �fakes� from natural stones. If you have your own jewelry making tools you are welcome to bring them with you. If you wish to incorporate your own recycled beads and vintage findings into your work I encourage you to do so!

This is a course designed with beginner�s curiosity, needs and interests in mind. You will receive detailed instructions through class handouts and hands-on assistance with your project construction. My goal is to provide you with an enjoyable experience and leave you feeling inspired and confident in your artistic abilities.

I have played for over 25 years, been a gigging musician since my teens, and am a full time guitar teacher and working/touring musician. No matter what style you're into, we can find some songs by your favorite artists and get you playing them. (even if you've never picked up the guitar before!) I have a good track record with beginner/intermediate level players getting them on the right trajectory, improving efficiently, and taking an interest in practicing. I've also worked w/ countless intermediate-advanced players, filling in the blanks in their skill set... self-taught players, etc.

Playing styles like PUNK, ALT., HIP-HOP, INDIE, BLUES, CLASSIC or MODERN ROCK, etc. are pretty easy when you get down to it. Learn one song, and you'll realize you can already play 20 others. It's all about having a good, patient teacher who makes sure you make the right choices as far as what to work on. Now that doesn't mean I'm going to assign you a lesson plan. We'll only PLAY TUNES BY YOUR FAVORITE BANDS/artists, if that's what you're into. Bring in ANY CD, and I'll teach you from it on the spot.
