We require object-oriented implementations of PHP 5/MySQL and that code by modular and well written. We are using PHP/Mysql on Unix. The architecture in place is a custom implementation of the MVC design pattern. We would like work that can be integrated easily into the existing code base using object oriented programming.
We require a programmer or Bay area team with solid advanced experience in either social networking and/or web projects. Individual must have excellent references regarding excellent communication skills, organization skills, and ability to estimate and deliver on time. Someone who wants to get involved with a great startup!
Project is self funded so at the moment I can afford $35/hour, but it's an awesome concept with lots of investor interest, but I want to fund it personally until it gets off the ground. Hourly Rate could be more if you take the lead and we combine with off-shore team as well, which i am investigating.

Responsibilities:
*Delivery of a fully functional website in two weeks
*Tweaking and adaptation of art assets for web pages
*Work closely with product management, in-house development team and visual designers on project definitions, client-server integration, visual polish, release milestones and project tracking
• Extend and improve a full-fledged object-oriented JavaScript development framework
• Connect to multiple sources of data and mashup in order to build a world-class web interface in real-time (no less!)
• Expand the service via connectivity to external APIs (Twitter, Facebook, Opencalais, Youtube, Feedburner etc)
Qualifications
• 5+ years developing for the web
• 3+ with Java/JSP/MySQL/Apache strongly preferred
• Expert knowledge of JavaScript, Ajax and related libraries (jQuery in particular)
• Strong knowledge of CSS and has ability to write code that works across all browsers
• Strong interest in emerging tools and technologies and principles of web interaction design
• knowledge of the XMPP protocol would be great
• Experience building highly scalable consumer web applications is a plus
• Knowledge of the Facebook API a plus
• Knowledge of the Google App Engine a plus as well

We have a graphic designer in-house that can do any design work needed to make the “post-scroller” match the look of the existing site.
Posts that show up in the “Post-Scroller” will come from the plug-ins control panel within the WP admin area as drawn in the PowerPoint slide.
There will be three separate front-end “post-scrollers” one for each membership level.
The solution will use short codes to show the four different “post-scrollers” within the WP text widget in the sidebar. This is due to the fact that short codes can be easily shown to the correct membership levels with our existing membership solution, meaning that the developer of this plug-in will not need to worry about membership levels at all.
The admin interface will have 3 text entry boxes, one for each membership level. If a message is written and posted to the lowest membership level it will post to all three membership levels. If a message is written and posted to the highest membership level it will only show up to the highest membership level. If a message is written and posted to the middle membership level it will show up only to the middle membership level and the top membership level. Again, the ideal solution will use short codes to show each box so we can control which membership levels see which box via our existing membership plug-in.
When a message is added, it must have a date/time stamp that shows time passed. (it would be great if the post also had a Twitter-like time stamp (“Posted 11 hours ago, or posted 2 days ago”) at the bottom of each post)
Admin will be able to see and delete old posts from within in the plug-in control panel.
