I tried using the home printed coupons from two websited that i use all the times. I had no problem using them at grocery stores, but when i went to walmart,on story rd in san jose,ca. the cashier said that they do not take them. I of course wanted to talk to the manager, yes the manger said they don't take them. I was surprised and upset of course. I wrote an email to corporate office, and all i got was an email and a phone call to call the manager at walmart again to discuss the issue.Basically,i was told again that i cannot use the coupons that the websites allows me to print. Has anyone had this issue? Just,a minute again i had to email the sensodyne company to please send me the coupons to my house since walmart won't take it if i print it from my home printer, don't know what they will say.I will wait and see:)

What other actions can i take on this issue, anyone?

Thanks for reading.

Hello,
Thank you for taking a second to read my posting. My name is Chris and I am currently working on a research project looking into the history of the Napa River and its fisheries. As part of the project, I'm hoping to interview local residents have first hand knowledge on the subject. Ideally, I would like to find interested people who are either a) well-versed in the history of Napa County or b) long-time fisherman who have fished the Napa River (and it's tributaries).

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you are interested in participating or if you have any questions about the project.
Take care,
Chris.

Fri the 13th: Did you see taxi hit & run/bike crash by Chinatown gates?

Where/When. Last Friday, the 13th, 8:50ish am, Bush St and Grant Ave intersection, out side Chinatown Dragon Gates, in front of Starbucks, at a green light.

What: Yellow SUV cab in left lane makes a right turn in front of me (silver bike, right side of right lane). I bounce of the front right bumper/light, crashing several meters away with deep facial/bodily lacerations/punctures, concussion, damaged teeth, damaged knees/legs/hands, cracked glasses (lens popped out), shattered bike, broken laptop, and more. Taxi drives away without stopping to exchange info. Crowd forms around me. Ambulance and paramedics come.

Did you see this? Do you know someone who mentioned seeing this? Did anyone see the taxi, the taxi number, the license plate number, a description of the driver, how many passengers?

Any info/leads you can provide, even things not mentioned above, will make a big and immediate difference. I'm just out of college and lack good insurance, even though I work to support myself. So medical costs are high. SF Police say they can't investigate the scene for me; I have to do the initial investigation myself before they'll step in, which is hard when you've just been hit by a taxi and can barely walk or talk properly. If I can get even one or two independent accounts of this hit & run happening, I will have a 100% better chance of getting SF Police department's help, a 100% better chance when asking the taxi company's insurance to help defray the high costs of medical care/damaged personal items.

Your help is appreciated. To anyone who stopped to help me that day, thank you so so much for your help. I am very grateful.

To help refresh memories, here are images of the intersection, what I looked like before the hit & run, after the hit & run (not right after, this was snapped after being stitched/cleaned by the hospital). Again, thanks in advance for any info you can provide. Have a great week. Watch out for that SF traffic!

Are You a Victim of Dangerous Bad Breath? (haight ashbury)

Bad breath is a problem that occasionally affects everyone. Despite common beliefs, it is not always caused by poor oral hygiene. If you suffer from cronic bad breath, do not feel depressed or discouraged!

You probably have better oral hygiene habits than most people! Curing bad breath requires that you use the right products, the right way, to destroy bacteria in your mouth. Surprisingly, some toothpastes and mouthwashes can actually worsen your bad breath!

Temporarily masking your bad breath with mints and sprays can worsen your problem. Their ingredients create a hospitable environment for bacteria to thrive in your mouth. You must kill the nasty bacteria that omit foul odors from your mouth to eliminate bad breath. Even though you may feel helpless and discouraged that nothing will work, you can overcome bad breath.

Remember, bad breath does not originate in the stomach. Bad breath originates from bacteria that naturally exist within your mouth.

Some cronic bad breath sufferers assume that they are more susceptible to bad breath than other people. They feel so helpless, that they convince themselves their problem is incurable.

Honestly, most people are equally susceptible to bad breath. Everyone has bacteria in their mouth that produces bad breath.

You can cure and prevent bad breath! Get yourself a copy of “The Bad Breath Report” at: http://bit.ly/2iD4e6

We offer a look into freeing people of the trappings of organized religion. We provide insight into why it hurts the individual and why it hurts us as humans, and how to move away from the destructive habits and rituals of religion.
We will meet in Berkeley at the marina; we plan on sharing informative film, having guest speakers of many backgrounds, sharing testimonies and discussion.
We are not a 12 step program, there is no, “correct” book to memorize. We will not enforce any doctrine and do not condone dogma or ritual for the sake of ritual. Topics in the meeting will flow and it will be a safe place for sharing.
All believers and non believers and any people in between, are welcome to investigate the possibilities.

Please e-mail us if you have any interest in the meeting and we will provide you with more information

YOUTH ICE HOCKEY in San Francisco (Yerba Buena Ice Skating Center)

Do you have a young hockey fan in your family, or know someone who might? Tell them about the Youth Hockey Program at Yerba Buena Ice Skating Center! Most people don't even realize that there's a year-round ice rink located in downtown San Francisco and that the sport of hockey is an option for youth. We have classes available for beginners, an In-House League, and Travel Teams for ages 3 to 18 years old.

SKATING SCHOOL
ISI Skating School group lessons teach hockey skating fundamentals to all age levels.
- Hockey Tots - children age 3 to 5
- Hockey 1 & 2 - skaters age 6 and Up

INFORMAL/INSTRUCTIONAL HOCKEY
- Pond Hockey - is for skaters who have completed Hockey Tots, Hockey 1 & 2 or who’ve been evaluated by a Sabercats coach. This ISI-based program introduces stick skills but emphasizes informal cross-ice “pond hockey” games to ensure a positive first experience. If you’re concerned about getting your child equipped with gear, we have sets that could be loaned to you.
- S.F. Sabercats In-House Instructional League - For graduates of Pond Hockey and/or Hockey 1 & 2 or demonstrated the necessary skills. Our ISI-based In-House program reinforces basic skating and stick skills. Team practices and refereed cross-ice games introduce tactics and systems.

S.F. SABERCATS TRAVEL TEAMS www.sfsabercats.com
Our travel teams participate in the competitive, USA Hockey-sanctioned Northern California Junior Hockey Association (NORCAL). Teams are based on current USA Hockey age groupings, practice twice a week, and play 1-2 games per weekend during the regular season. Tryouts typically take place in August and the regular season ends in Mid-March.
The snail is a living term expressed by The Spiraling.
The hero is a circle in the darkness of the jaguar, who,
in slipping through the world,
becomes again my progress, the blind one's inclinations.

When the very quiet man began to speak, each world aged him three years.
“This child's soul is a tornado, its smoke is like a snail, and the walls are made of jaguars.”
All of the dust in the battle of light streaming in around the frames,
around all the more necessary stories we'd thus far conserved.
Here, the quiet man was really just the sound of their membranous wings,
brushing busily against each other in the shadows of their rooms.

The entire sanction is comprised of birds. Each of these birds is a world of eyes.
In these words, there are plants, comfort, storms, and other cartoons.
As you come to them, you will be known, and you will begin to understand
the fundamental integrity of metonymy. Later children will read encyclopedias
in the languages of pollen with their mouths.

At last, we will see that the seeing was the seed from whence a deeper way arose.
The water of dreaming absorbs our haste. Drink, and we
shall find the rightward emblems, the furtive chances held against combat,
the seven sectors of my father's eye.

In this workshop we will share with you some wisdom on
life, practice some yogic breathing & guided meditation.
This is a secret - using the breath to bring back the natural balance in
yourself.

Research has shown that the practice of meditation,
yogic breathing & yoga increases antioxidant enzymes, enhances the immune
system, reduces stress hormones, may help prevent many diseases, and brings
about a much desired state of mind: relaxed and alert at the same time. These
techniques have also shown to have induced positive emotions.
If you need help, contact the Epilepsy Foundation. They have advocates. I don't know why you are so different, or special in compared to everyone else who has this problem. I have no desire to watch your seizures, as I see them on a daily basis at home. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and get help if you need it. Don't be a victim, there are plenty of support groups out there. There are also plenty of people (almost everyone) who need financial help. Welcome to the economy,

Is there anyone out there who has a desk job who has developed lower back pain from prolonged sitting? I have been diagnosed with problems with my piriformis muscle and I have done physical therpay, chiropractic treatment, acupuncture and cortisone injections. I am just depressed thinking the rest of my life will be like this. I primarily have pain in my tail bone/sacroiliac area only on the left side. Any information you can share will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Dear Parent,

My name is Jeff Cookston, Ph.D., and I am a Developmental Psychologist at San
Francisco State University. I am conducting a research study trying to
understand how families experience transition over time. We are hoping to
interview families that include minor children between the ages of 8 and 12.

To determine whether you are eligible to participate in the study, please visit
the website below. The eligibility screening includes just a few items and
should take about five minutes to complete.

To be screened for eligibility, please visit http://devpsych.sfsu.edu/family.

If you are eligible and decide to participate, you and one of your children will
be interviewed by phone. Your participation should last approximately 1 hour
and you will be paid $30. Also, we're hoping you and your child will complete a
diary about your eating behaviors over the five days after the interview. You
will be paid $10 to complete the food survey.

I hope you will participate. If you have any questions, please contact me, Jeff
Cookston, by e-mail at cookston@sfsu.edu. I will be happy to
answer any questions you might have.

Sincerely,

1. Place the onions in butter, in a pot over a medium heat, and cook until they soften. Add in the lentils, orange juice, carrot, celery, half the broth, bay leaf, thyme, and pepper. Then allow to simmer for 40 minutes, until lentils become tender.
MAKING HEALTHY BABIES, RAISING HEALTHY CHILDREN
Living Well in a Toxic World

Where: UC Berkeley Art Museum Theater, 2625 Durant Ave. Berkeley, California
When: Saturday, November 21, 2009, from 9 am to 4 pm
Tickets: First 50 students are free, First 25 Healthcare professionals are free. $60 regular, $75 at the door http://makinghealthybabies.eventbrite.com

The 2009 CIA World Factbook ranks the USA 45th among nations for infant mortality— the worst among all industrialized countries. The autism rate in our country is now 1 in 100.

How we can understand and take appropriate steps to ensure healthy mothers,
births and children? Take a unique look at the entire system that affects
our future generations- a mother’s current environment,
the birth environment and your child’s toxic world.

This symposium brings together scientists, doctors, researchers and professionals for a compelling conversation about environmental influences around birth and childhood. Featuring plenary speakers, panels, audience questions, and film clips.

Revolutionary new software will also be introduced that will help parents assess the risks our children may encounter from the environment before birth, at birth and during childhood. Our three part program will make clearer to attendees what they should know about environmental health, their world, and how it affects them and their children.

Session One: Preparing for Childbirth
Sharyle Patton, Director, Commonweal Health and Environment Program, presents several new biomonitoring studies documenting the ubiquity and complexity of chemical and environmental exposures that people experience every day, and how those exposures could influence pregnancy and the health of our children. Exciting new software will be introduced which gives parents-to-be the opportunity to evaluate environmental exposures, and the effect they may have, so lifestyle changes can be made to ensure healthier outcomes for families and children. This session concludes with an expert panel including Ms. Patton; Dr. Joanne Perron OB/GYN who will correlate the environmental science with her own personal experience; and Julie Matthews, Certified Nutrition Consultant, who will describe the best diet for pre-pregnant women

Session Two: The Birth Experience
Robbie Davis-Floyd, PhD, medical anthropologist and author of eight books including Birth as an American Rite of Passage, presents a brief history of birth in the USA. This presentation will focus on women’s ideas and cultural values about childbirth. The session concludes with a panel consisting of Dr. Davis-Floyd; Elizabeth Davis, a Certified Professional Midwife, who will touch on an integrated view of birth; and pediatrician Dr. Marshall Klaus and his wife, Phyllis Klaus C.S.W., M.F.C.C., who discuss the care and support a woman needs during birth. A new film by Diana Paul of Sage Femme will introduce this session.

Session Three: Healthy Childhood
Dr. Andy Wakefield, academic gastroenterologist and Director of Thoughtful House Center for Children in Austin, Texas, presents new information and good news about the treatment and prevention of autism (now affecting 1 in 100 children). A ChARMtracker demo will be featured introducing this web-based treatment tracking software for autism. The session will conclude with a panel consisting of Dr. Wakefield; Pramila Srinivasan (ChARM founder); Kenneth Bock (an integrative family practitioner whose practice is a beta site for the ChARM Physician product); and a returning Julie Matthews, nutrition consultant for children with autism. Clips from Elizabeth Horn’s film "Finding the Words" will open this session.

Audience questions and answers will be taken at the end of each session.

Master of Ceremonies
Carolyn Raffensperger, M.A, J.D. is the Executive Director of the Science and Environmental Health Network (SEHN). In 1982 she left a career as an archaeologist to work for the Sierra Club, where she addressed an array of environmental issues, including forest management, river protection, pesticide pollutants, and disposal of radioactive waste. She began working for SEHN in 1994. As an environmental lawyer, she specializes in fundamental changes in law and policy necessary for the protection and restoration of public health and the environment. Carolyn is coeditor of Protecting Public Health and the Environment: Implementing the Precautionary Principle (Island Press, 1999), the most comprehensive exploration of the history, theory, and implementation of the precautionary principle. She coined the term "ecological medicine" to encompass the broad notions that health and healing are entwined with the natural world. She wrote a bimonthly column for the Environmental Law Institute's journal Environmental Forum from 1999 until 2008.
ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM ORGANIZERS

Maureen Block is former in-house counsel at a New York investment bank, and founder of The Ryder Foundation whose mission is to raise money for organizations that make a difference in the lives of children with autism. Ms. Block is the mother of a child who has recovered from autism.

Elizabeth Horn co-founded the Autism Recovery Consortium to support continued research into autism recovery. Along with Dr. Martha Herbert of Harvard and Michael Lerner of Commonweal, she co-founded the autism group that meets regularly at Commonweal called NPART (New Paradigms for Autism Recovery and Treatment). She produced a documentary entitled "Finding the Words" about children recovering from autism that has now been broadcast in over 30 countries, and recently collaborated on the creation of ChARMtracker software (treatment management software for children with ASD).

Diana Paul is a filmmaker and Founding Director of Sage Femme, a non-profit organization that produces the Motherbaby International Film Festivals and promotes and educates about EcoBirth.

Molly Arthur, who has had 30 years of working with start-ups and growing networks in her professional sales career, is the Managing Director of Sage Femme. Molly is also the inspiration behind EcoBirth, a philosophy linking birth and the environment.

EcoBirth is the study of and practice in Deep Womb Ecology. It links and relates the environments of Birth and Earth. EcoBirth recognizes that the mental and physical care surrounding Birth is an indicator of how we care for the Earth. Since our primary provider and first home is the Earth, EcoBirth advocates cherishing her as a means of protecting our mother's wombs, our baby's births and our children's futures.

Why does what we do not much our professed beliefs so often? Why are we estranged from our true selves? Why the disconnect? This Sunday at The Harmony Center for the Joyful Spirit, our minister, Daniel Neumayer, will share his reflections on why we are not always the person we want to be and ways to make our actions more in alignment with our beliefs. We'll also be inspired by live music from the Joyful Harmony Band and have opportunities to sing, share thoughts and ideas, socialize, and enjoy organic foods and other tasty treats after the celebration.

All this happens this Sunday at 11 a.m. in the Oakland Veterans Hall at 200 Grand Ave. (at Harrison) bordering Lake Merritt in Oakland, for our weekly hour-long celebration of what's good in life and in ourselves.

If you are looking for a spiritual community that respects people of all backgrounds and traditions, including non-believers, and are interested in deepening the spiritual dimension in your life, then this might be a community for you. FREE, with donations appreciated if you so choose. For more info, visit www.joyfulharmony.org, or call 510-451-3009

I need someone who can complete a small kitchen project (painting, putting up "floating" shelves, install some wood trim, paint and hang a door, ) do a large dry wall patch and paint in my bedroom (room is about 11 x 12), including doors, window trim and base boards. Also, any recommendations for someone you have used to do this type of work and you liked their work is great and appreciated. I'm smart but I am not good at painting or carpentry, so I'm not able to do any of this myself.

Just so I don't get flamed, I have already looked in "Services" here on CL, called 7 people in the past 2 weeks and have received no return calls. I have not left messages regading what I will or won't pay, so I don't think the no return calls is because I'm cheap.

I'd prefer a woman to do this type of work (I'm female) but if the person has good references, is neat, honest, clean, punctual and competent-I don't truly care if they are male or female. I have 2 senior cats, so I'd want someone who is respectful of pets. FYI-I'm located in the Dimond District.

Thank you for your help.

I am a single father trying to help out my daughters school projects. I am looking for anyone in the bay area who may have too many clothes, linens, or blankets lying around and would like to clean some space while helping my daughters.

I can pay for some also, not much, I was thinking maybe five dollars per bag.......during these rough times every little bit helps.

I can pick up with my truck. So, if this sounds good to you, just email me back, and I will respond with my number and we can make this work.

Please rate how much you have been bothered the items below during the PAST WEEK on a scale of 0 to 4. 0=not at all bothered 1=a little bit bothered 2=somewhat bothered 3=very much bothered 4=extremely bothered

_____3. I avoid activities in which I am the center of attention.

We are offering 8 weeks of a stress reduction program (either a mindfulness meditation based stress reduction or an exercise and fitness based stress reduction) to people with social anxiety. The treatment study's goal is to better understand the mechanisms of therapeutic change and its long-term impact in individuals who suffer from social anxiety.

We are seeking people with English fluency who are right handed, age 21-55 individuals who primarily have problems with social anxiety and are able to commute to Stanford University for assessments. We also ask that study participants be willing to discontinue use of mood or anxiety medications and concurrent therapy for the duration of their participation in the study.

How Do You Feel About the Quality of Education?

Are you tired of your child not receiving the quality education you feel he or she deserves? Have you experienced your school district dictating the type of services your child should receive while you are left confused in the jargon or your valid input is left out of the equation?

This is what it feels like to be a parent of a child with special needs.

Hello, my name is Michele Jones-McKeag, and I am a parent of a child with learning disabilities and is on the mild end of the autism spectrum. I pay out of pocket for my child’s services to make sure he can get the best care; however, the majority of parents cannot afford to pay out of pocket, and nor should they have to. It is the duty and responsibility of the state and school districts to provide FAPE, a “Free and Appropriate Education”. This includes programs and services if deemed “appropriate” to help your child learn.

YES Education Advocate is conducting research on the needs of our families in California, particularly ones with a child or children that have special needs and the quality of their education.

We are conducting this research because we are in the process of creating an inclusion independent school in the East Bay. This school will focus on mild to moderate learning disabilities, children that have high functioning verbal autism, auditory processing and visual processing disorders, mild to severe speech delays and children in general education classes. We want to serve the child that cannot be placed into the current “one size fits all” model.

We want to build an educational community that believes children with mild/moderate disabilities can learn along side other students in a general education classroom with the right components, curriculum, collaboration, nurturing and best teaching practices put in place.

In order to make this school a success and determine if a need exists for such a school, my board and I need to hear from you. We are here to serve you and your child’s needs. We need to know what the community is thinking when it comes to our children, our future.

Please take a few moments to fill out this short survey!

Because of extreme isolation/outcast growing up, I "must" be with others, receiving kinda like a 1yo baby's caretaking!
What seems to be a win-win is having a homeless lady share my space! (alt. lifestyle, so open-minded essential)
Must be reasonably clean or my landlords (lesbian couple) won't allow her here. (fyi/tmi, I&this is celibate/platonic.)

I need a jump start, from a diesel (Richmond)

I need a jump-start from a diesel vehicle.

I parked my large chevy step van near 23rd and Esmond and left the lights on.
The batteries are dead.

I'm told that a regular vehicle can't jump start a diesel, because
a diesel uses two batteries and draws a lot more current when
warming up the glow plugs.

Is there anyone with a diesel who will be in this area (a few blocks from 23rd and Barrett) this afternoon?

I can meet you anytime after 4pm tonight; maybe a bit earlier. Thank you!
