.......... The mere fact that items manufactured decades ago are still available and of use today (as opposed to off-gassing in a landfill) speaks to the quality of their manufacture and design.

.......... It's a 3/4 machine -- just like a featherweight! -- but it's NO featherweight. This machine is heavy (maybe 20 lbs?) and all metal. only a straight-stitch foot, They are short-shank, come with a drop-in bobbin, and have a typical stitch length lever -- clearly numbered -- with back tack. Perhaps because she's a straight stitch machine, her ability to handle curves is exceptional.

Large Japanese wooden hibachi (charcoal brazier) from early Taisho period (c. 1910-1920). Sturdily made. Lovely copper handles on both sides. Copper interior lining. Aesthetically subtle and appealing. Gorgeous patina throughout.

Adding a glass surface on top and transform it into a small tea table, overseeing seashell or other collectibles.Perfect as a planter. Easy to match with any tansu.

Lovely Japanese Kamakuri bori lacquer trays (set of 5) from the Taisho period (c. 1910-1920). Beautifully carved with a Noh actor mask on each tray.

Kamakura bori lacquer is made by applying black and/or red lacquer on a hand-carved wood base. After polishing for multiple times, it is then applied with layers of lacquer and soot or a plant extract powder. The surface is then finely buffed. It is a time-consuming and labor intensive technique; resulting in highly valued art objects.

Size of each tray: 13.25" x 11.375". They are in very good vintage condition.

It has an inch and almost 1/2 circle on it with a female cameo in the center. The other (I don't have a picture sorry)is sky-blue with a clear top. The ring on its front has what looks like a man running carrying a torch to me. They are fairly heavy and add that spash of color.
